Quick and Dirty Election Endorsements - California

  • Proposition 73: Parental notification for minors, slips language defining a fetus as a person into the constitution. Hell no.

  • Proposition 74: The first of the Schwarzenegger initiatives. Makes teachers wait longer for tenure, easier to fire. No.

  • Proposition 75: Designed to eviscerate funding for political campaigns by public employee unions. Hell no.

  • Proposition 76: Imposes arbitrary spending caps that would hamstring the state's ability to act in a recession. No.

  • Proposition 77: Redistricting, criteria it uses are likely to reduce representation of Democrats and minorities. No.

  • Proposition 78: Big Pharma's fake prescription drug plan, designed to help defeat Proposition 79. Hell no.

  • Proposition 79: The legitimate prescription drug benefit proposition. Yes.

  • Proposition 80: Re-regulates the power industries in California. I dunno; Ezra Klein says yes, Mark Kleiman says no. You decide.
