Friday Random Ten: Pandora Edition

I left the iPod at home this morning, so I decided to try something different: the first ten songs to come up on Pandora. Pandora is the premiere find-music-you-like site; you create a list of bands and/or songs you like, then it plays stuff that somehow shares characteristics with them. So here's this morning's list:

Latin Playboys - Lemon 'n Ice [Good choice, but an easy one; I had already added Cuca's Blues]
The Sonics - Torture [Excellent--a good dirty, sloppy instrumental]
Dick Dale - Let's Go Trippin' [Another safe choice; the last thing I added was Dick Dale]
David Marks - Travelin' [Pretty good surf instrumental from the Lost Legends series, but it illustrates a problem with Pandora: it seems to be overly influenced by the most recent additions]
The Ventures - Road Runner [What was I saying just now? Pretty good, but not nearly as good as the Wailers' version]
Notekillers - Braindance [Okay, now we get something different: late '70s dissonant noise punk instrumental; pretty good stuff, probably there because I added Agent Orange]
Agent Orange - Out of Limits [Another safe choice]
Fugazi - Turkish Disco [Another punkish instrumental; good stuff from a band I never got around to checking out when they were popular]
Don Caballero - For Respect [Another art punk instrumental? Still, good stuff from a band I didn't know, which is sort of the point]
Portishead - Sour Times [Live] [Yet another safe choice; Portishead is first on the list]

Bonus track:

The Herbaliser - When I Shine [Now this is more like it; I'm not in love with this, but it's at least a more adventurous choice]

[That's all, folks]
