Decline and Fall of the American Op-Ed

In this morning's Post, Kathleen "Save the Males" Parker expresses her ancient POV:

Had Antony not fallen for Cleopatra, Octavian might not have captured the Roman Empire. Had Bill resisted Monica, Al Gore may have become president, and Hillary might be today's Democratic nominee.

And had MoDo not won that Pulitzer, newspapers might not be overrun with such vapid female voices.

Nightmariness

I'm dreaming I've woken up and there's a rank, homophobic, Maureen Dowd-elevating screed by Clown Hall's Kathleen Parker on the Op-Ed page of my Washington Post. Also, Bush is in his second term, we're still in Iraq and Fred Hiatt is a person of not inconsiderable influence in our national political discourse.

Crazy stuff. I've gotta lay off the Captain Beefheart before bed.
