So I saw a flyer up at work for a Walkathon for diabetes in San Francisco this weekend. Which is certainly a worthy cause, and near to my heart (my dad has had it for 35 years or so), and well worth supporting in general.
But what caught my eye was the part that said '5K'.
Five kilometers. That's not a 'walkathon'--that's a friggin' stroll. And these things have been getting shorter and shorter all the time...but 5K?
Just for perspective, when I was a kid I went on a UFW walkathon that was 28 miles in all. I only made 18 miles myself, but I sure as hell felt like I had accomplished something.
God, I feel old.
