Via Debra, I see that there is a Christmas sequel to the non-heartwarming Thanksgiving story I wrote about last month: Dreams of a blue Christmas were dashed yesterday when a renegade Chinese supermarket chain blew off Bay State blue laws and did a brisk business — until the boys in blue arrived, that is.
I do have to wonder what the Super 88 owners were thinking. They really, really can't plead ignorance this time--not after getting busted on Thanksgiving. Maybe they're setting up a legal challenge to the laws, which would be a great thing for everybody who thinks the state has better things to do than enforce statutes that are archaic and blatantly unconstitutional.
Boston cops rolled up before noon to close the bustling Super 88 Market in the South Bay Center. The six-store Asian supermarket chain also opened on Thanksgiving despite warnings from Attorney General Tom Reilly.
Meanwhile, I wonder how long until O'Reilly discovers the Asian front in the War on Christmas...
[That's all, folks]
