He Could Have Just Stayed Home and Watched Sullivan's Travels

So Michael Franti, longtime purveyor of musical leftie agitprop, packed up his guitar and headed for Iraq...and while he was there, he had a revelation:

What surprised him most was the lukewarm reaction from the locals he got to the first song he played, "Bomb the World," an anti-war tune that includes the lyrics, "We can bomb the world to pieces / But we can't bomb it into peace."

"People told me afterward that they didn't want to hear songs protesting the war," Franti says. "They wanted to hear songs to make them laugh, dance and get on with their lives."
Um...duh?

I'll give Franti credit for putting his money where his mouth was; there aren't a lot of warbloggers heading for Iraq, and the ones that do aren't exactly spending a lot of time outside the Green Zone. But really...how naïve does a Gringo have to be to believe the people of Iraq are actually going to want him to inflict his political music on them?

[That's all, folks]
