Kevin Drum responds to Richard Schickel's unhinged screed against blogger-critics, and gets right to the heart of the matter:
What strikes me, though, is that Schickel's jeremiad isn't unusual: all too often, people who complain about the vitriol and ignorance of the blogosphere find themselves so tongue-tied by the whole phenomenon that their criticism plunges with barely a backward glance into paroxysms of....vitriol and ignorance.Yes, exactly (Joe Klein, anyone?).
I don't really have anything to add to Drum's response, except to note that none of this comes as a surprise to readers of Birmingham Blues (Kathy's home blog). Obviously, Schickel has been stewing about this a long time.
