You Forgot Albania!

You gotta love Albania. For 40 years they were ruled by more-Stalinist-than-Stalin dictator Enver Hoxha (who outlawed private automobiles, but also did a lot of bad things). Under Hoxha, Albania broke with Yugoslavia when Tito broke with Stalin; broke with the Soviet Union when they repudiated Stalin; and broke with the PRC when they purged the Gang of Four. In the end, their only ally was North Korea--home of the ultimate totalitarian cult of personality.

And now, it appears, Albanians are cheering Bush. Somehow, considering Bush's authoritarian cult of personality, I don't think it's the democratic reformers who are doing the cheering1.

Who says the US has become isolated in the world? George Bush is popular in Albania!

1Snark aside, the cheering may be genuine...but it's for the wrong president.
