Bighorn Lake on the Silver Divide, John Muir Wilderness.
For some more swell pictures, check out Tom Stienstra in today's Chronicle. Today begins an 8-part series on a trip across the Sierra through Sequoia National Park. I've done a couple of Sierra crossings (along the Middle Fork Kings, in Kings Canyon NP) and it's really a different kind of trip; when you start at one place and end someplace else and the distance between the two is significant enough to look substantial on a road map and there's one of the great mountain ranges of the world in between, it really feels like an adventure.
