Language matters

Atrios reminds me here about something that caught my eye yesterday in the Boston Globe. In a report on President Bush's latest press conference the reporter observed sadly that although "Bush has been riding high on the booming economy" for years there has been a sudden and surprising down turn. Either the words "riding," "high" or "economy" just don't mean what they used to mean.
