Donohue is keeping the heat on McCain over his embrace of anti-Catholic (among other things) bigot John Hagee. So far, it hasn't made much of a dent in the news--although it did get him an appearance on Colbert. As Josh Marshall notes, so far McCain is "getting a complete pass."
That doesn't mean the problem goes away for McCain. Hagee is enough of a disgrace that 90% of the people who hear what he stands for will be completely appalled; our problem right now is that not enough people know about him, or about McCain seeking his endorsement.
But we don't have to--and shouldn't--wait for Donohue to do our work for us. Somebody with some money--MoveOn, People for the American Way, whoever--should be running ads calling on McCain to "denounce and reject" Hagee for his bigotry. A significant ad buy would generate its own press, and nudge this thing a little further into the spotlight.
And it would be easy to put an ad together. Josh Marshall has already assembled the raw material:
